Activities
There are a lot of things you can do to stimulate a dog mentally.
Indoors I often hide dog-candy. Outdoors when we go for a walk I usually
try to do different things with the dogs. Let them find hidden candy,
jump over, balance whatever we find in the forest. |
Indoors
| Candy can be hidden everywhere, up on furniture,
under carpets, inside boxes. Make it more difficult by hiding the candy
or toy in a box inside another box. Take an old sock and fill it with
candy. Empty soda bottles can be filled with candy. |

I usually put Tessi and Tyra in another room and hide the candy. I then
give them the command to search for candy. But nowadays they know exactly
what to do. Tyra didn't understand in the beginning, but since Tessi is
a experienced "candysearcher", she got it quite fast. |

| I have actually bought an activity ball. I was very skeptical
in the beginning, I believe there are so many things at home you can use
to activate a dog. But I was too curious on this ball. Tessi was the one
that completely fell for it. She is so stubborn that she doesn't end until
it is empty. As you can se on the photo, its a plastic ball that you put
candy into it and when the dog rolls the ball the candy fells out. |

Marrowbone is something that dog loves. It keeps them busy a
long time. When the bone is empty don't throw it away! Fill it with for
example, liver paste or something similar. |
| |
| Be aware with soda bottles (plastic) and other stuff that can
be dangerous. Always keep an eye on the dog. Tyra wasn't allowed to play
with soda plastic bottles on her own when she was a puppy, because she
chewed the bottle into pieces. Nowadays she is more interested to get
out what's inside the bottle. |
